Very happy as all of my assignments are completed and handed in now :D Just got to get through my exams on the 16th and 17th and then that's me finished my 2nd year of uni! That is kinda scary as the real world is starting to loom on the horizon, this time next year my degree will be over *wibble* But for now I'm going to give myself a little break and start revising properly next week after a revision lecture on Monday because right now I couldn't work if I wanted to, drained myself of academic energy...

On another note, saw this on my flist and decided to take the quiz

I'm meant to be studying...but who cares?!

I've wanted to reread before the 7th book comes out and now this gives me a schedule :D No more than 2 chapters a day shouldn't interfere with my essays/exams but I'll probably finish them all long before July as the first 3 books are quite quick to read :)

Japanese Buddies!
So there's about 20 Japanese students from Kyoto University coming over to England for a few weeks, it's done about twice a year in partnership with my uni and in return a few students from Keele go to Kyoto for a few weeks over the summer as well and stay with host families. These Japanese students will be staying with families in the local area for the 3 weeks that they'll be at Keele and then they go to tourist places around the country before heading back to Japan, it's something really exciting for them to do and, while they're at uni, students from Keele become their "buddies" and show them round, make friends and take them out places while they're here.

I had a buddy last year and found it really fun so I signed up again this year, my buddy is a girl named Kana and I'll meet her on Monday night at a welcome buffet put on by the uni. As there wasn't many people showing an interest in being a buddy and there was two students who still didn't have anybody today, me and my friend Debbie signed up to take on another buddy, so my other person is a guy named Yusuke, I sooo can't wait to meet them, the Japanese are such lovely people and it will help me to brush up on my Japanese as well as help them with their English :D

They arrive in England tomorrow but like I said, I wont meet them til Monday evening. Jahan has also got a buddy, I can't quite remember his name right now but in the group this year there's only 2 guys so between us (me, Jahan and Debbie) we have the only 2 guys and overall there'll be 5 students with us which will make it more fun I think, we've got allsorts planned for where we're going to take them in their free time so the next 3 weeks hold the promoise of being fun and exciting, and hopefully we can maintain the friendships when they return to Japan :D

Weird dream
I have just woken up from one of the weirdest dreams I've ever had. I got up early this morning but felt really cold around 10 so went back to bed for 2 hours lol. Anyway, the dream...

I was on a train to Japan sat between my boyfriend and the Japanese singer/actor Gackt, who had hair like Cloud from Final Fantasy for some reason. So yea, eventually I decided I needed the toilet and found out it was 10 carriages away from me, of course I'd head off in the wrong direction wouldn't I? So I ask one of the Japanese conductor guys (in English) where the toilets are and he asks me what kind of sport I would like to do?! So I finally get him to understand that I want to know where the toilet is, and head back off in the direction I've just come from. Eventually I reach lots of barriers (you know those ones you get in tube stations and things like that?), these barriers are all white and have little numbers on them and where you want to go, Toilet, Shops etc...I go through the toilet one with the number 8 on it, but I have to weave my way through a lot more barriers before I make it to the other side. When I get there, it's like I'm in a huge foyer for a shopping centre or train station or something but I know that I'm still on the train...I see that theres an archway for the toilets over on the right hand side at the end of the foyer so I head over in that direction.

Then the toilets confuse me, theres sets of cubicles all over the place in a haphazard maze and I can't differentiate between male and female toilets as the only difference in the appearance is that the image for the female ones has her hair in a little ponytail. So I've decided which the female toilets are, great! but no, on the doors to each cubicle there is a sign, split into two columns, one side English and one side Japanese. The toilet I'm looking at is for a 9 year old female and there's a list of specifications, like height, weight etc. I move onto the next cubicle and that's for an 89 year old woman, the next for an 89 year old man, so I move onto the next set of cubicles...these are for half-gendered people (getting weirder huh?) so then I move on and come upon two women sat in a kind of doctors waiting area, I look over to a sign on the wall and realise that I'm in a hospital waiting area...on a train. So I decide I'm going to use the toilet for the 9 year old and head back that way. Suddenly, the toilets that were for half-gendered people now have signs that say half-wash/cycle and it's changed into a laundry room?! The next thing I know I'm heading back to my seat between Jahan and Gackt (who has been asleep with his face against the window the whole way) and waking up....but how is that for a surreal dream? lmao!

OTH 409
I've just watched last night's episode of One Tree Hill...I'm literally shellshocked. My heart stopped towards the end of the State Championship game and the events that came after it, my god this show is so good and this episode reminded me why I love it so much. A show that can make you this worked up and feeling so many different emotions, from exhileration to utter heartbreak in a matter of seconds, there's just no beating it...

I can't wait for the next episode (which is the second half of this run's finale) and I wish it wasn't going on a short hiatus after next week, but my god that episode was amazing, so amazing that I can't think coherently lol, I have that tightness in my chest you get when the adrenaline is pumping :) *wanders off to calm down somewhere*

Catching up on my Supernatural watching, nearly caught up now, yay! But I have a question for anyone who might have seen this episode; is it just me or did the guy who played Webber look a hell of a lot like Elijah Wood? I picked up on this in the car towards the end of the episode and it was freaky just how much like him he was, eyes, lips, voice...

Badly Drawn
Well, it's been a busy few days. It was mine and Jahan's 3 year anniversary on Friday, can't believe how fast the time has flown since we first got together, it really doesn't feel like 3 years. But unfortunately we couldn't do anything to celebrate as I had a Japanese exam early on Saturday morning...how sucky is that?

I think I did ok in the exam but time will tell I guess lol, hope I have passed though because this decides whether I passed first year of uni (exam was delayed but I need the 20 credits that Japanese gives me in order to have passed all of last year's modules) so *fingers crossed*

To celebrate both our anniversary and the completing of my exam without too much stress, we went and saw Badly Drawn Boy who was playing at our uni last night. Jahan's friend Dave travelled down from Middlesbrough to see them as well because he likes his music and absolutely adores his current opening act, who is Isobel Campbell. It was a fantastic night, I got quite drunk at the gig but sobered up when we left to go clubbing lol, Jahan remained drunk for the rest of the night and was a pain to sleep next to as he snored LOUDLY all night long and I didn't get any sleep :(

But yea, the gig was amazing, it was great to see Dave again and overall it was a brilliant night. Went to Pizza hut for dinner today and then took Dave to the train station and waved him off back home. We had a wander around the shops in town but came home pretty early as Jahan is coming down with a nasty cold/flu/infection and felt sucky so I'm fretting over him now lol, and I so don't know what to do for him, when I'm ill he's a lovely nurse for me but I never know how to comfort him when he's ill and that makes me feel so bad :( he's through in the other room playing on his games console right now and he's all wrapped up with a cup of tea as well so I'm sure he'll be fine for now :D

Anyway, here are a few pics I took last night... a bit blurry as we were drunk and couldn't hold phone straight, and only 3 of the actual gig, the rest are of us lmao

And a good time was had by all )

Yay, it's official, we now have a chartered anime society at my uni and I'm vice-president :D Myself, Jahan and 3 of our friends decided to set one up (it's something good to put on our CVs :D) and after a few weeks of getting signatures, writing up a constitution and whathaveyou, we're finally on the society's list! It's called Keele Anime and Manga Enthusiasts, KAME for short, and Jahan came up with the slogan "Anime so good I think I just KAME" which seemed rather witty at first but now I'm not so sure about lol. But anyways, we have our first social a week on Friday so hopefully people will show up to it! We've decided on showing the Samurai X OVAs first as they are fantastic and they're what got me into anime in the first place, I was sceptical of anime and never thought I'd like it but Samurai X just completely blew me away and I've not looked back since, and that was 3 years ago! Hopefully our audience will appreciate the choice we've made lol.

It's been a miserable day today, hasn't stopped raining and we got soaked when we went out shopping, still, at least we now have food in the fridge and the cupboards again! I managed to catch up on the reading for one of my courses and will try and get all the questions my tutor set on it answered tomorrow in preparation for my sem on Tuesday. I'm just finding it really hard to concentrate on anything at the moment, let alone work so I'm going to try and push myself a little harder, hopefully it will pay off and I'll keep on top of things.

Awww man...
the bad feeling at work is getting worse seemingly :S one of my friends has a new job already lined up, the other doesn't want to come back after a 9-day break and my hours have been drastically cut; I mean I've gone from 30 hours a week to 9-10 hours for the next 3 weeks :( I can only assume that I've pissed somebody off but I just haven't figured out how, when or why yet as I've been doing everything that's asked of me. Just seems that no matter how hard we work it's never enough for them. I'm going to work out the summer as I wont get another job this far through the summer and after I come back from uni in December I'll hopefully have sorted out somewhere else to work for over the holidays as I definitely don't want to be working for WHSmith anymore...it's going down hill faster than Jack, Will and Norrington on that wheel!

Sorry I haven't updated in a while but RL has been pretty hectic lately and I don't get much time to go on my own comp as, being back from uni, I've gone back to work and I'm hardly ever at home as from work I go round Jahan's...beats spending time with the stepdad lol, he's a nightmare.

Got my exam results last week and I'm now officially a second year, woot! still have 2 exams to sit as well as they were postponed due to all the AUT strikes earlier this year, thankfully that's all sorted now though and people can hopefully graduate without too many problems. Will be sitting my Japanese and American Studies exams in August sometime now I think, just have to wait for the dates to be sent to me.

The weather this week has been amazingly hot, so hot you can't really think straight lol and it would be fantastic if only I wasn't working :( it's made even worse with the fact that we have no air-conditioning in our shop as it's broke. They say it's "fixed" so that they don't have to give us free drinks and fans and extra breaks anymore, but there is no way at all it's been fixed, it's like working in hell and the customers get even more ratty because of it :S

I got a new PC a few weeks ago, I was getting sick of my slow laptop so thought I'd treat myself to an uber computer instead :D Jahan put it all together for me and it only cost £550 overall. I now have 2 250gb hard-drives plus my 250gb external hard-drive and the computer is just brilliant I love it so hopefully from now on I'll be on the comp and updating more. Another big expenditure this month (well yesterday) is buying the first 4 seasons of Smallville on DVD. They were on offer in the place where I work, £25 each and I get 12.5% discount as well so I couldn't resist. I've only ever seen a few episodes but I know [info]causette really likes it and one of my friends at work said it's fantastic so I thought I'd start myself off from the beginning :D probs wont get time to watch them until September when me and Jahan go back down to uni but that's because I'm not allowed to do anything in my own home unless my stepdad says so.

Jahan's mam and dad have finally been invited round my house for tea...we've only been going out for 3 years, lmao. But my stepdad is an arsehole and doesn't like Jahan cos he's going out with me and so he didn't want to meet his parents either. Hopefully it will go ok but I've been relegated to sitting in the other room like a naughty little child...how bad is that? didn't think he'd stoop so low but he's always surprising with how low he's willing to go to put me down. Just hoping he doesn't offend Jahan's parents too much as he loves upsetting people with his comments and I think of them in pretty much the same way as my mam and they treat me like their daughter too, they've been so good to me over the years so hopefully Peter wont spoil it all.

Well, I suppose I'd better get going as I'll have to be setting off for work in a sec. It's gorgeous outside, hottest day of the year here and I have to work for the best part of it (12.30-5.30) oh well, it will be cooler once I get out of work but hopefully the sun will still be shining like it is now :D Hope everybody else is ok and I'll try catch up with my flist later on

post-vets
Turns out Ruby was having what are known as petit-mal convulsions, in other words, she was halfway to a full-blown epileptic fit. The vet reckons it's probably the heat that brought it on but in case it ever happens again she's prescribed some Valium for her. She also said that if it happens again in the next 6 weeks I have to take her back for blood tests to test her liver and kidneys and then she'd be put on the proper epileptic medicine. Hopefully she'll be fine though, she's been great today and the vet said that some dogs can have one fit and then never have another their entire lives, so hopefully *fingers crossed* Ruby's was a one-off. It's taken a load off of my mind anyway and at least if it happens again I know what to do now :)

Just have to keep ourselves cool in this hot weather! *turns on fan in bedroom* hopefully this will work better than it did last night because it's hot and stuffy again even with the windows open...

Argh my bedroom is so stuffy I can't sleep so I've had to come online lol, I've even opened the window and there's no breeze even tho I'm sat right next to it! Was my first day back at work today after coming back home from uni...feels like I've never left the place lol... the air-conditioning is still broken so it was absolute torture all day, I suppose at least they gave us free drinks (but unfortunately not of the alcoholic kind) but they really need to get it fixed, it was like this last summer too. Worked a full day and walked back home rather than get the bus (a combination of wanting to keep active and not wanting to pay the extortionate bus fares which have gone up yet again...plus only 2 buses go my way now as they've cut back on them and it was such a nice day I didn't want to be stuck on a bus :))

My family (mam, stepdad and brother) have gone on holiday for two weeks so I'm home alone with the dogs. Been taking them for walks on a field near us and we do 2 or 3 miles walking around that with the other dogs. Missie and Ruby love it and I've learnt that my brother hasn't been taking them for walks consistently since I was doing it full-time last summer!!! Poor dogs, I'm going to make sure this time when I go back to uni in September that my bro and my mam take them out at least once a day; it's only fair because they are big dogs and they need the exercise. Plus it tires them out lol, they're both conked out on my bed now as I type this bless them but there's nowhere for me to sleep!

That's the worst thing about nobody else being in the house because they both like to sleep on a bed that is occupied; most times I have Missie and my mam and Pete will have Ruby on their bed, but for the next 2 weeks they'll be sharing with me and I usually end up sleeping diagonally to accommodate them...very uncomfortable when I wake up lmao.

Jahan has been coming round every day which is really nice. Today he came and babysat the dogs while I was at work and he even had dinner cooked for me when I got home! he's so sweet and he's even helping walk the dogs as well *cuggles him* I'm really bas with updating my journal but nothing exciting ever really happens to me and I don't know what to talk about if it doesn't. Oh and the two exams I have that have been postponed will probably have to be sat in the next academic year now which is gonna be kinda stressful :( I understand why the lecturers are on strike but the adverse reaction it's having on the students (especially those who are graduating this summer) isn't fair and I know they didn't plan for it to be this way but I really do hope it's resolved soon before other students have to suffer in years to come :(

woot!!!
Finally got my Literature exam out the way :D The questions were evil there was nothing nice to choose from in any of them so all the fantastic things about sight in King Lear and religion in Macbeth I wanted to say went out the window lol, but isn't that always the case? I don't think I did great but I don't think I flunked it either so we shall see come results day :)

Did my good deed of the day/week too: I found somebody's credit card on the floor as I was walking across campus from my exam. Took me 3 attempts to find a reception/help desk that was open as well because I didn't get out of my exam 'til 6pm and almost everywhere was closed...trekked across campus in the rain...and our campus is fairly big!!! But I'd hope that somebody would do the same for me if I lost my card, so yea I'm happy that I did something good for somebody :D
